Red is the auspicious colour for the Chinese, signifying vitality and dynamism. It is the colour for extreme yang, jiyang.

The concentric circles symbolise the broadening World Wide Web, encompasssing all things Chinese and all Chinese.

The character Hua is done in bold calligraphic strokes to remind us of our rich history and culture. The calligraphy by the late Pan Shou is from his brush-stroke rendition of the Chinese name for the Chinese Heritage Centre.

The regular edges balance the spirited calligraphic strokes, as Yin and Yang balance each other, and as do Modernity and History, Culture and Technology, Collectivity and Individuality. Balance and equilibrium form the optimum condition for flourishing life in the Chinese scheme of things.
