About the Talk
The talk will begin with an introduction to the history of Chinese Painting
that will be useful to all enthusiasts. Mr Tan Tee Chie will then use ACM's
exhibition of paintings from the collection of the late Dr. Tan Tsze Chor as
case studies. Works of Ren Bonian, Huang Binhong, Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, Pu
Ru and Zhao Shao'ang, presented in the exhibition will be discussed and
analysed in this lecture. Enthusiasts will be treated to useful insights
into the collection from the Master of the Frangrant Snow Studio.
About
the Speaker
Born in 1928 in Hainan, China,
Mr Tan Tee Chie graduated from the Nanyang
Academy of Fine Arts in 1951. He is currently a Senior Lecturer with the
Academy. Till today, he has served for 51 years as the former Head of
School Affairs and Registrar. Mr Tan is a renowned art critic, calligrapher,
painter and seal-carving expert. He has held five solo exhibitions, one of
which was the result of an invitation from the University of Michigan, USA.
His Chinese paintings were also exhibited in China, Japan, Italy, Hong Kong
and several other countries.
