Overseas Migration.

Objectives
The primary objective of the 5th International
ISSCO conference is to examine the implications of globalisation and the recent
phenomenon of increasing out-migration from the People’s Republic of China.
The process of globalisation accelerated by transnational financial and
commercial developments and innovations in transportation, Internet technology
and telecommunication has increased mobility. Chinese migration is taking new
forms by which new types of migrants from a variety of geographical and
socio-economic backgrounds are on the move to new destinations.
These new developments suggest that scholars need to re-address their studies
about migration from China. New paradigms for migration studies and processes
have to be worked out to understand the significant political, economic, social
and cultural consequences of migration from China. The 5th international
conference of ISSCO should strive to serve this purpose.
