Singapore History Museum Collection on Chinese Overseas

The Singapore History Museum seeks to explore, discover, and enhance the national identity of Singapore by preserving and interpreting the nation's history and material culture in the context of its multi-cultural origins.

We have established a collection of historical photographs and prints on Chinese Overseas. In addition, we maintain a specialized library that collects literature on museology and museum management.

In our exhibition planning, we encourage collaboration with community organizations in Singapore. For example, in our recent exhibition on the Hakka community, we worked closely with the Nanyang Khek Guild.

The museum also maintains a network of contacts with overseas museums and research institutes. Through this network, the museum is kept informed of exhibitions and collections concerning the Chinese overseas.
