Singapore Press Holdings Resource Centres

The Singapore Press Holdings has two resource centres. The Chinese Newspapers Division (CND) Resource Centre serves the Chinese Newspapers Division at News Centre, Genting Lane. The English and Malay Newspapers Division (EMND) Library, which serves the English and Malay Newspapers Division, is based at Times House, Kim Seng Road. Both libraries have rich collections of newspapers, news articles and pictures. Some of these records are probably the only information existing today. These cover various subjects related to Chinese Overseas, especially of those in Singapore and Malaysia, amongst many other diversified news items and current affairs articles.

  • Sin Chew Jit Poh (Jan 1929 – Mar 1983)
  • Nanyang Fu Kan (Sep 1945 and 15 Mar – 6 May 1971)
  • Nanyang Zhou Kan (Nov 1971 – Dec 1981)
  • Chuang Zao (23 Jul 1955 – 3 Mar 1956)
  • Xin Yi Dai Biweekly (1976 – 1977)
  • Jing Ji Shi Bao (Jan 1968 – Dec 1969)
  • Kuai Bao (Sep 1980 – Aug and Sept 1983)
  • Ming Bao (19 Mar 1960 – Feb 1962; Jan 1980 – Aug 1983; Apr 1984 – Aug 1984)
  • Nan Fang Wanbao (16 Oct 1950 – 1 Dec 1969)
  • People’s Assoication Newspaper (16 Nov 1962 – 1 Dec 1969)
  • Xin Bao (Jan 1953 – Dec 1953; Aug 1954 – Mar 1957)
  • Xin Sheng Ri Bao (16 Jan 1961 – Dec 1963)
  • Ying Hua (16 Jan – 30 Sept 1961)

  • Straits Times (since 15 Jul 1845)
  • Straits Times Weekly Edition (since May 1993)
  • Straits Times Weekly Issue (8 Jan 1883 –26 Dec 1893)
  • Straits Times Weekly Overseas Edition (Sep 1987 – Apr 1993)
  • Syonan Sinbun Singapore (8 Dec 1942 – 7 Dec 1943)
  • Syonan Shimbun Singapore (8 Dec 1943 – 4 Sep 1945)
    (The last two were published during the Japanese occupation)
